You also have a choice of edge color/treatment. All of our bars are custom milled poplar wood. We offer two weights of Stretcher Bars: Standard 3/4' profile bars or Museum Weight 1 1/2' thick bars. Photo-papers CANNOT be UV Coated.įor Giclee Canvas prints, you can choose to receive a flat (un-stretched) print, or to have us stretch it for you. We generally brush-on this type of UV Coating to create a 'brushstroke' texture. Sometimes artists will ask to have fine art papers UV coated (especially when reproducing oil/acrylic paintings on paper). Coating the paper also changes its texture, so we don't recommend it. UV Coating Fine Art papers:Giclee papers do not need a UV Coating, both the papers & the inks are archival without them. Unless you have a special reason not to coat canvas, we will insist on providing some final top coating, or we cannot guarantee its durability.

In most cases we recommend the Gloss Coating, which is closer to a 'lustre' and makes the colors very rich. The coating protects the surface of the canvas and enhances the color. The UV Coating option applies to Canvas Prints - all giclee canvases MUST have either a matte or gloss UV coating. Explore our Papers and Canvas Types Page to read more about them. Some of our papers mimic textured watercolor or drawing papers, and some are smooth or glossy and better for photography. Substrate means the Fine Art Paper/Photo Paper/Canvas/etc of your choice.
